In Lofoten at the end of King Olav's road (E10), you will find the picturesque fishing village of Å.
Å is known to be one of Norway's best preserved and most complete fishing villages. Experience everyday life at the Lofoten fisheries back to early 19th-century at The Norwegian Fishing Village Museum. The museum is open almost all year long and offers guiding for individuals and groups in Norwegian, English and Spanish. During high season (june-august) other languages might be available. During summer make sure to visit Lofoten Stockfish Museum and learn about how Stockfish became the oldest export product in Norway. Follow the cod from the ocean to the Italian dinner table.
Brygga restaurant - built on stilts in the ocean
Enjoy lunch or dinner with local flavours at the historic Brygga restaurant. The actual building is a former boathouse (wharf and fish landing). The building has been redeveloped and can today offer a refurbished restaurant, a bistro, meeting room facilities, a bar, as well as 11 comfortable guest rooms with roof windows. On top of this guests can experience magnificent views of the ocean and mountains. Don't miss the exciting display in the restaurant, consisting of old pictures of the former owners of the fishing village (The Kings of the Cape) - the Ellingsen family, as well as old fishing equipment and other antiques. For more information about the history of Å as a Fishing Village take a look here. The restaurant can host up to 200 persons for lunch and up to 90 persons for dinner. Meetings room for up to 50 persons with panoramic sea view. Welcome to a wonderful experience at Brygga restaurant. Small groups can on request enjoy an aperitif or coffee in the actual Fisherman home, which dates back to mid 19th century. Get more information about "The King of the Cape Experience" here.
